Country coverage: comparing European reach

Country coverage measures how far a ticketing platform is genuinely usable across Europe. A player dense on a single market and one present in many countries don't meet the same needs: following an artist on a European tour, buying from abroad or booking an event on the other side of the continent. This page explains how we assess this reach and places the platforms against each other, in scores rather than raw figures.

What country coverage covers

Country coverage isn't just the number of countries listed. We look at three dimensions: the breadth of the markets genuinely served, the consistency of the experience from one country to the next (interface, language, local payment methods) and the relevance for a cross-border purchase. A platform can be excellent on its domestic market but limited as soon as you step outside its borders — these two profiles don't get the same score.

Our assessment method

For each platform, we assess the perceived geographic breadth at the European scale, then weight it by the consistency of the experience outside the home market. Broad multi-country coverage, with localised interfaces and suitable payment methods, gets the best score. Coverage concentrated on a single market stays valuable for national events, but it's scored lower on this specific criterion, which measures European reach.

Why no exact country count

We don't publish a fixed number of countries per platform: the perimeters change and a raw figure says nothing about the quality of the local experience. Comparing coverage profiles and scores better reflects what matters to the buyer — being able to book, in your language, with a suitable payment method, whatever the event's country.

FAQ

What is a ticketing service's country coverage?
It's the genuinely usable geographic reach of a platform across Europe: breadth of the markets served, consistency of the experience from one country to the next and relevance for a cross-border purchase. It's not simply a number of countries listed.
Which platform covers the most countries in Europe?
In our comparison, Eventim gets the best coverage score (4.4/5) thanks to one of the broadest multi-country presences. OWTicket follows with a multilingual European approach (4.2/5), useful for cross-border purchases.
Does broad coverage guarantee a good purchase?
No: wide coverage makes booking abroad easier, but says nothing about the fees or the ticket type for your event. Always cross-check coverage with the fees and delivery criteria before choosing.
Why don't you give the exact number of countries?
Because the perimeters change and a raw figure doesn't reflect the quality of the local experience (language, payment). We compare coverage profiles and scores, which are more stable and more meaningful for the buyer.
